MASCHIO works on the failure of communication between the genders. At its heart lie the fragility of the masculine and the frustration of the feminine in its relation to the masculine. The starting point is the image of a man inside a golden cage: it makes him feel strong, yet inside it he remains fragile. From that image the work opens into a series of tableaux in which bodies seek one another, interrupt one another and miss one another. The piece reaches no resolution: it ends in solitudes that have stopped listening to each other.

The audience is divided between men and women, and each person chooses whether to watch themselves or the other. The full version will incorporate real, recorded testimonies.

Selected for New.D.35, the choreographic development programme of Teatro Linguaggicreativi, Compagnia Lost Movement and Centro ArteMente, supported by MiC and SIAE through the "Per Chi Crea" fund. First study presented on 28 October 2026 at Teatro Linguaggicreativi. Planned final format: 30–45 minutes for six performers, with a possible version for three.

Concept and choreography: Emanuele Travaini. Performers: Anna Galli, Carola Coletta, Chiara Tagliagambe, Matteo D'Angelo, Chiara Alloni, Luca Hoang Adrelli. Music: Holly Herndon, Alif Hilal, Zamilska.
